The Directorate-General for Education and Culture (DG EAC) has released the Key Data on Teaching Languages at School in Europe 2017 Eurydice report.
One of the main findings of the report is that the numbers of lower secondary students learning two foreign languages in schools in Europe is up compared with ten years ago. Furthermore, most countries now have provisions in place to support migrant children who need to learn the language of their host country. Less positive is the fact that the level of ambition for learning a second foreign language is still remarkably low.
